5 Reviews of the Airgo Stratus 400

By: Johnpdunkley  Reason: I own(ed) one  Made in: 2017   Rating:

I bought a Stratus 400 with porch 29.7.18 for over £700 and the second time that we used it (9.8.19), the stitching in the porch airbeam failed risking the inner bursting. On close inspection, I could see that the stitching was of very poor quality.

I contacted Go Outdoors Customer Service who recommended that I take it to my local store.

I tried to contact the Southampton Go Outdoors store by phone but no one was answering so I took the porch to the store.

The Southampton store Manager did not even bother to inspect the damage but said that it was outside the 12 months guarantee and that the airbeams were not covered by guarantee anyway. He suggested that I buy a new airbeam online through the Go Outdoors website or send it off for repair to Lancashire Sports Repairs.

Having spent quite a lot of time online, I discovered that Go Outdoors do not sell spare airbeams.

The final communication from Go Outdoors was:-

“Unfortunately due to the age of the tent and the fact that the fault has occurred on a part of the tent which is not covered under the warranty there is nothing more we can do at this time for you”

Update to my previous review: added a Gelert Ottawa Canopy and it solved the problem of the sloping front and gave an undercover space in which to cook. The canopy has poles that would hold a battleship and has double guying so should stand up as well as the tent. It was a struggle to put up but worth it however an inflatable extension would be even better.

Fantastic and easy tent to put up and pack away, even by your self. We have slept with 2 adults and one child using a double and a single air bed and found plenty of room left over. Having 4 adults would be a bit of a squeeze though. A canopy is a must, and one needs to be made!

We used this during a thunder storm and were impressed by how well it handled the rain!

Excellent little tent for 2 people.Tried and tested at The lake District last weekend. The usual mix of weather i.E high winds and torrential rain all night followed by a scorching hot day and back to rain at night. The tent was rock solid and didnt require any 'topping up'. Very well packaged prior to purchase.Good quality material and it even fits back in the bag! Zips, mesh and curtains all seem decent quality. As previously mentioned -the sloping front door can let water in whilst you are opening it but not a drop got through when closed down.Standing height is just short of 6 foot just under the front beam. Two cable inlets--one either side and plenty of places to hang your lights.I would prefer to see a darker roof panel and/or darker inner tent but that is down to personal choice. The tent will blow up in the claimed 45 seconds--but add 5 mins for pegging out and guys! I had to roll the remaining air out of the tubes after deflation--you could use the supplied pump as it has a deflation setting. A bit pricey--but worth it in my opinion for the ease of setting up.Overall--very pleased with it.

Full height easy to pitch inflatable tent. Very quick to pitch and pack away even single handed. I'm impressed by how well it stands up to high winds. It has two inflatable arches joined by an inflatable ridge pole which give it stability. It has loads of space for 1 or 2 people. 3 would be cosy and 4 would have to be very very friendly. I love being able to stand up to get dressed as my knees aren't what they used to be!

The only downsides are the weight (20.8kg) and the sloping front which lets the rain in so it really needs a canopy.

Manufacturer's Description

The Airgo Stratus 400 tent is a comfy, sturdy space that uses inflatable, interconnected beams for simple and rapid pitching. It's got plenty of room for four campers, with a good sized front porch for storing your boots, bags and any other essential kit.

Airgo tents' highly robust double skinned inflatable beams take the hassle out of camping - just pump them full of air and you have a rigid pole-free frame in minutes. All the beams are connected so they inflate from a single inflation point.

The inner tent is made from breathable fabric for good airflow, with side storage pockets to help you stay tidy and organised. The bedroom area uses light-blocking fabric to stay dark and cool, making for a better night's sleep (or afternoon nap!)

Strong guying points and multiple guy lines keep it stable and in one piece, even in unforgiving weather. And when it's time to take your camp home, it packs away into its own 'Easy Pack' tent bag with the minimum of effort.

Comes with a stirrup pump for fast inflation - inflates in under a minute!
